Our belief that parents are the primary educators of their children is one of our core values at Regina Caeli Academy UK.

The idea comes from our Catholic faith, but ultimately, this teaching really just points us to the reality of the natural world.

Parents are always the first educators of their children since they teach from the moment of birth. Likewise, children are designed to imitate their parents as they grow.

The Catholic Church and its popes have been vocally defending the parents’ place as the primary educators in recent decades.

‘The role of parents in education is of such importance that is almost impossible to provide an adequate substitute.’ Pope Paul VI

‘Parents are the first and most important educators of their own children, and they also possess a fundamental competence in this area: they are educators because they are parents.’ Pope St John Paul II, Letter to Families, 1994

In the Sacrament of Baptism, Catholic parents are also given the solemn responsibility to educate their children in the Catholic faith.

At RCA, we believe that the parent is the expert in informing us how their child best learns. However, we are the experts in our curriculum progression and implementation. We know how it is designed to work together and how it will affect a student in our classrooms later on.

We are bound to use our knowledge to act in the best interest of the child and to support the parent in their role as primary educators, which includes setting them up for success.
